This magazine cover clearly indicates what type of magazine it is, a college magazine aimed at teenagers. The centre piece of the picture is a white female student, attending college at the park on a sunny day. This immediately focuses the buyer, and gives the impression of a happy and relaxed scene. The bold red text at the top of the page catches the viewer’s eye straight away. Also the text and the girls t-shirt are the same colour. This is so the picture doesn’t’ seem detached from the text. Also so the magazine doesn’t use too many colours which will distract the reader. This magazine has only used 3 main colours, red, blue and black. The girl is looking straight at the camera which gives a connection between the magazine and the customer. The centre piece is a mid-shot (MS) which once again allows the customers to connect with the magazine. This college magazine has also deliberately used an attractive girl to attract male customers but have used the image cleverly so it’s not too vivid for females. Main features have been scattered around the picture to allow the reader to know what is inside but not give anything away. This intrigues the reader. These are in blue text with a black tittle; this is so they are clearly seen by the reader and in keeping with the theme. Woodland in the background gives a natural and peaceful feel to the cover. The focus depth allows you to clearly see the woman but blurs the woodland in the background; this is so focus is not lost from the main photo. The language used on the cover is literate which indicates a serious but laid back magazine for students (target audience).
